Death as a result of lack of Medical Oxygen’s in the various hospitals across Anambra State and beyond, henceforth will be a thing of the past , as Anambra State Government has built a Medical Oxygen production plant with capacity to produce two hundred Cylinders per day.
The Managing Director, Anambra State Medical Oxygen Production Plant, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim stated this while speaking to newsmen in Awka.
According to Dr. Ibezim who said that oxygen is life, there is need for oxygen in emergency situations, trauma and accidents .
He noted that inadequate supply medical oxygen in third worlds countries propelled Governor Willie Obiano to built the plant to save Ndi Anambra and residents of the state from deaths as a result of lack of oxygen.
Dr. Ibezim further explained that the plant is the largest Medical oxygen plant built by any state Government in Nigeria and revealed that the plant will be distributing oxygen to Hospitals and Primary Health care centers in the state, even as he pointed out that Governor Obiano has directed that Nurses and health workers in the state be trained on emergency services in order to use the oxygen for enhanced service delivery .
The Managing Director who is also the Special Adviser to the Governor on Indigenous Medicine and herbal practice noted that they have started test running of the oxygen produced in the plant for couple of months ago, made it clear that the medical oxygen they produce is of the best quality and met World Health Organization’s Standard.
The Anambra State Medical Oxygen Plant is located at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka and will be commissioned by Governor Willie Obiano today, Thursday eight August 2019.
