Governor Willie Obiano has restated commitment towards ensuring that
Anambra State keeps benefiting from all the components of the Federal
Government’s Social Investment Scheme.

Governor Obiano disclosed this while declaring open a One Day Orientation and Review Meeting for Anambra Central N-Power Volunteers, 2017/2018 Batch.

The Orientation was organized by the Anambra State Government, under
the Office of the Anambra State Social Investment Scheme held at Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

Declaring the event open, Governor Willie Obiano represented by the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners Mr. Mark Okoye, said that the state is currently benefiting across board in the Federal Government’s Social Investment Programme because
of the commitment, and sacrifice the State Government has made to ensure that Ndi Anambra benefit from it.

He said that a total number of fourteen thousand, six hundred and eighty nine N-Power volunteers are currently working in different Ministries, Departments and Agencies in Anambra State, under N-Teach, N-Agro and N-Heath.

Governor Obiano said that Anambra is the first State to kick off the School Feeding Programme in Nigeria, as about one hundred and thirty five thousand pupils from primary one to three are currently benefiting from the school feeding in the State, even as he revealed
that about thirty thousand poor and vulnerable Ndi Anambra are equally
benefiting from the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme in the State and
urged the volunteers to take their job seriously as government is
committing huge resources to make the programme work in the State.


In a Welcome address, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Social Investment Scheme, Lady Chinwe Iwuchukwu thanked the Federal
Government for initiating the Programme which she said came at the right time when unemployment is at its peak in Nigeria and eulogized Governor Willie Obiano for the huge support his administration has accorded the programme in the State and warned the N-Power volunteers not to joke with the rare opportunity given them as defaulters would be sanctioned.

Two of the participants, Messers Anolue Cyril from Nanka and Ifunanya
Emeronwu from Nibo thanked both the Federal and State Governments for
the programme but appealed for improved working condition and upward
review of their salaries.

The Orientation and Review meeting was organized for the volunteers and their management to discuss about their challenges and successes, with a view to chatting a way forward for enhanced performance and productivity.

The exercise will also take place in Anambra North and South Senatorial Districts of Anambra State.
