The Wife of Governor of Anambra State, and founder of the NGO; Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFE, Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has urged women in rural areas who are into agriculture and petty trading to form cooperative societies to have easy access to loans provided by Anambra State Government, through the Anambra State Small Scale Agency, ASBA.

Dr Mrs Obiano stated this during her 2019 tour to Onitsha South and North Council Areas.

According to Dr Mrs Obiano, the Anambra State Government is currently putting finishing touches on a foreign agricultural subvention, of which sixty percent of it will go to women who are into agriculture.

The Governor’s wife said it was only when women form a recognized smaller bodies that they can put forward a successful loan application to ASBA, through the ministry of Social Welfare, Children and Women Affairs.

She noted that the present administration was determined to building a purpose-driven movement that gives every onye Anambra a sense of love.

In their separate addresses, the member representing Onitsha North Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon Eddie Ibuzor, and his Onitsha South Two counterpart, Mrs Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche, who shared a personal experience she had with the Governor’s wife, praised her selflessness even when confronted with tall demands.

At Onitsha South local government area, the governor’s wife laid the foundation stone of a six-week old three-storey building being erected in her name by the council.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Onitsha South, Chief Emeka Asonya, said the building which would be completed in less than seven weeks time, would serve as a monument to remember what Dr Mrs Obiano has accomplished over time, just as his Onitsha North counterpart, Chief Patrick Agha-mba added that the CAFE programmes have reformed the notion of charity in recent years since it began in Anambra State.

The Commissioner for Indigenous Artworks and Diaspora Affairs, Mrs Sally Mbanefo, and the Commissioner for Children and Women Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue were also among dignitaries who welcomed the governor’s wife at of the two council areas.
