The World Bank-assisted Community and Social Development Project aimed at empowering communities will be winding up next year.


The General Manager, Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, ANSCSDA, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu announced this during a two-day training for members of Community Project Management Committee, CPMC, and Sub-committee members from some communities in Orumba North and Ogbaru council areas.

 The training which took place in Awka, attracted CPMC and Sub-committee members from Okpeze, Ndiowu and Ndiokpalaeze communities in Orumba North council area as well as Ohita, Obeagwe and Umunankwo communities in Ogbaru council area. Addressing the participants, Mr. Mojekwu urged them to defy all obstacles and benefit maximally from the project before it winds up.

 He however announced that the World Bank team will be visiting Anambra state next month for on the sport assessment of the project’s impact on the poorest of the poor. 


Taking participants on Key issues in Community Development Plan, CDP, and Group Response Plan, GRP, the Operations Manager, Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, Mrs. Uche Nwizugbo, charged members of Community Project Management Committee, CPMC, with the sole responsibility of formulating plans  on behalf of their communities.


Taking participants on Financial Management,  the Financial Manager, Anambra state Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Francis Madubuonu disclosed that disbursement of funds to communities for each micro project shall be in three tranches of thirty, fifty, and twenty percent or fifty, thirty and twenty percent depending on the type of the micro project.
                                                                              In his remarks, the chairman, CPMC Obeagwe community in Ogbaru Local Government Area, Chief Fidelis Anene, who applauded Governor Wille Obiano for availing them the opportunity to benefit from the laudable project, assured of  their maximum commitment to the success of the project.


Some of the participants,  including Mr. Samuel Edemuzor, Supervising, Monitoring and Evaluation officer, Ohita CPMC, Mrs. Nma Nwankwor,  Procurement officer, Ndiowu Subcommittee and Miss Anulika Nwafor,  Treasurer, Okpeze CPMC, who described the training as every crucial based on the knowledge garnered, called for total commitment devoid of self interest from all members to achieve the desired goals.
