.. ABS Conferred Award for Media Excellence
It was glamorous affair as Rotary club of Awka, Nnamdi Azikiwe University district 9142, installed Rotarian Kanayochukwu Obidigbo as the new president of the club.
The auspicious ceremony which took place at Finotel Hotel, Awka, Awka South Local Government Area attracted eminent personalities including government officials, traditional rulers, Heads of security agencies and members of the club within and outside the state.
Anambra Broadcasting Service Awka, led by its Managing Director, Chief Uche Nworah, was also conferred an award for Media Excellence as well as those who contributed immensely to the society including, the Chief executive officer of Winco foam, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Okafor, State Director Of DSS, Anambra State Mr. Yusuf Isyaku, and many others.
In his acceptance speech, the new president of the club Rotarian Kanayochukwu Obidigbo, who succeeded the immediate president of the club, Mrs ify Obi was highly elated for the honour and said that Rotary has made plans to enlighten the citizenry of the need to charge and care for the society by encouraging maintenance of healthy environment.
He emphasized that the club will join hands to tackle polio and stressed that the club will continue to encourage education and literacy to empower the people mentally in order to emancipate them.
Earlier, in a keynote address, the quest speaker, Senator Ben Ndị Obi who spoke on the topic ” Is it fair to all concerned? A courageous question in a world of injustices” said that a critical look at the elements of fairness and injustice shows that today the world is fragmented along the lines of unfairness and injustices in which no one seems to care for the other. He propagated adoption of Rotary’s 4 Way Test as a way out of the many challenges facing Nigeria.
