Famous Nigerian International Footballer, Mr. Kanu Nwankwo has praised
the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano for taking good
care of the pioneer set of footballers of Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, most of who are old and ailing.
Speaking during a courtesy visit on the Governor at Aguleri, Mr. Kanu
said he was overjoyed to hear that Governor Obiano had shown great
compassion to the pioneer set of Rangers players who he said had
played with so much determination to restore the pride of Ndigbo after
the Civil War.
He noted that no other Governor in Nigeria has shown such appreciation
to aging footballers who had brought joy to the people with their gifts when they were young.
Mr. Kanu who expressed profound gratitude to Governor Obiano for
showing kindness to the aged footballers urged other governors to emulate Governor Obiano who has shown a worthy example by encouraging
sports men and women in Anambra to give their best in service of the
people.
He also commended Governor Obiano for his impressive achievements in
Anambra State.
He noted that since Governor Obiano assumed office as Anambra State,
helmsman he has placed all the pioneer players of Rangers International Football Club on a monthly welfare package and has been picking up their medical bills.
Mr. Kanu presented a Super Eagles Jersey to governor Obiano as token
of his appreciation for his excellent performance as a Governor.
