About ten thousand teachers in Anambra State will be trained on Information Communication Technology for three weeks by the Ministry of Basic Education.
The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha disclosed this when the Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Basic Education paid a familiarization visit to the Ministry.


While welcoming the Committee to the Ministry, Professor Omenugha disclosed that the Ministry will partner Google to train Anambra teachers on cyber security and other computer packages so that they could be ICT compliant and improve their teaching skills.


According to her, when the feat is achieved, Anambra teachers will be the first to pilot cyber security in Nigeria, adding that they have organised series of capacity building for teachers, especially science subject teachers aimed at equipping them to do their jobs in a most professional way.


In his remarks, the Chairman, Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Basic Education, Mr Ejike Okechukwu, explained that their visit to the Ministry was designed to familiarize themselves with the Ministry as it will enable the committee to be on the same page with the vision of Governor Willie Obiano in education.


The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Mr Onyebuchi Offor and a member of the committee, Dr. Timothy Ifedioramma also expressed the commitment of the committee to partner the Ministry to improve teaching and learning in the state.


At Anambra State Universal Basic Education, the Chairman of the Board, Mr Patrick Ugboaja assured the committee that they will live up to expectation for the benefit of the people.
