Residents of Nsugbe in Anambra East Local government area, both old and young yesterday trooped out in their numbers to be part of August edition of Nsugbe run and walk for life.
The exercise took off from Community Primary school Two, Ime Nsugbe, to first gate of the Nwafor Orizu Collage of Education Nsugbe and back to Community Primary School Nsugbe School Two.
Speaking after the exercise, its co-ordinator and initiator, Comrade Tabugbo Obiezeazu said the monthly exercise was meant to improve healthy living of the people of the community.
He disclosed that one hundred and fifty youths of the community are currently undergoing one week training on different skills in Awka, to enable them become self reliant.
He called on the people of Nsugbe community to join hands in sustaining the monthly exercise by participating and sponsoring it.
On her part, one of the participants Mrs Nkiru Achukwu noted that the monthly exercise has afforded her the opportunity to get rid of some ailments that hitherto weigh her down, and commended the initiator of the project for coming up with the idea while calling for its sustenance.
A seventy year old man from the community Mr Patrick Nnaemeka and another elder in the town Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuka, said at their age exercise is the only thing that keeps them strong , even as they called on other aged individuals to be part of the exercise as it is not meant for the youths alone.
In their various speeches, some of the youths who are members of the Local Organizing Committee of the exercise, Comrades John Paul Mozie and Godwin Oguguo described the exercise as a huge success.
