Obeagwe, Ohita and Umunankwo Communities in Ogbaru Council Area, have joined other Communities that have benefited from the Community
Development’s Projects of the Anambra State Community and Social
Development Agency.
Speaking during the signing of the projects financing agreements and
release of funds for projects implementations, between the Anambra
State Government and the the Obeagwe, Ohita and Umunankwo communities, which was held in the three Communities, the General Manager of the Agency, Mr. Chudu Muojekwu who commended Governor Willie Obiano for
attracting the Agency in Anambra State noted that their main objective
is to ensure that the very poor Local Government areas in the State
get needed attention in terms of having Micro Projects like Bore
Holes, Classroom Blocks, Health Centres, Markets among others.
Mr. Muojekwu further said that the scheme allows Communities to
identify their most pressing needs, bring it to the Agency for
financing, noting that every benefiting Community will bring ten
percent of the actual sum of their desired projects, which maybe in
Cash, Raw Material or Labor, while the Agency will bring ninety
percent of the money which will be paid in three tranches.
Obeagwe Community chose to build a Classroom Block which will cost
Eight Million, Seven Hundred and Three Thousand, Five Hundred and
Seventeen Naira, and the agency handed over the Cheque for Two
Million, Three Hundred and Forty Nine Thousand, Nine Hundred and Forty
Nine Naira, Fifty Nine Kobo which translates to thirty percent of the
first tranch to the community after which they will collect fifty
percent as the second tranch and then twenty percent as the last
tranch, depending on the prudent utilization of the previous money
received.
Umunankwo who wants to build a Water Retaining Wall because of flood and the project will cost Seven Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty Thousand, Sixty Two Kobo while Ohita Community that wants to do Electricity Extension that will cost Seven Million, Six Hundred and Seventeen Thousand, Nine Hundred and Eighty Nine Naira, Fifty Kobo were given fifty percent of the amounts as their first tranch.
Commending the agency and the Anambra State Government for coming to
their rescue, the President General of Ohita Mr. Nwachukkwu Nwosu on
behalf of others assured that they will ensure that the projects come
to fruition in their respective Communities.
The Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency came into
being on March nineth, 2009 through a Law enacted by the Anambra State
House of Assembly, but became effective in the State on first August
2018, under the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration.
The Agency is charged with the function of improving the socio-economic conditions of the populace at the grassroots level by promoting prompt delivering of services geared towards poverty reduction in Anambra State, and the Agency is currently implementing the World Bank Assisted Community and Social Development Project Additional Financing.
