The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Health has expressed
their commitment to partner the Obiano administration in provision of
adequate health care for the people.


The Chairman of the Committee, Mr Carter Umeh gave the assurance when
 the Committee embarked on familiarization tour of  Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku, Awka.


House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that Chief Umeh emphasized that the familiarization exercise would enable the committee to figure out the challenges confronting the hospital and proffer solution so that it would be in the class of best
hospitals in the world.


The Lawmaker applauded Governor Willie Obiano for putting in place
oxygen production plant and the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme
that guarantee Ndi Anambra access to quality and affordable medicare.
A member of the Committee, Pharmacist Obinna Emeneka added that they
visited the hospital to stimulate the consciousness of the staff to
render quality services to the people at all times, especially in
emergency situation.


Receiving the Committee, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital,
Dr. Basil Nwankwo intimated the committee on the current state of the
hospital and the progress it has recorded for the past twenty months
he had piloted the affairs of the Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Nwankwo also informed them that the hospital has done exceedingly
well diagnostically with over two billion naira invested there by the
State Government.


He called on ANETT who is currently handling the issues of appropriate
placement, promotions and take home packages for workers in the
hospital to expedite action
