Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala has appealed to communities and stakeholders in the state to join hands with the government in strengthening the health care system.
Dr. Okpala made this appeal while commissioning the Umudioka village, Awka, Primary Health Centre.
Dr. Okpala while commissioning the Health Centre commended Umudioka village, Awka, for pulling their resources together in setting up the primary health centre that is seventy percent equipped and appealed to all stakeholders and communities in the state to emulate it.
The health Commissioner, who described primary health care as the base of health care delivery in Nigeria, explained that the state government is working tirelessly to strengthen the state’s health care system.
The Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, Dr.
Simeon Onyemaechi, who hails from the village disclosed that the Umudioka Primary Health Care Centre has been accredited as one of the centers to implement the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme and applauded his people for making the project a reality.
The Transition Committee chairman, Awka South local government area, Mr. Leo Nwuba and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Mr.
Okey Nwokike also described the project as apt and timely urging Ndi Umudioka village, Awka, to always visit the health centre for easy accessibility of health services.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Medical Equipment and Supply, Jennifer Onyedikachi was among the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
