The General Manager, Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Chudi Muojekwu says the Government, World Bank and the Agency wants Communities and Vulnerable Groups that benefited from the programme to ensure transparency, accountability and efficiency in the utilization of the funds given to them.


Mr. Muojekwu disclosed this while presenting cheques of various amounts of millions of naira to three Vulnerable Groups in the State. Chibuzor Okoye reports that the three groups were, Onneh Amaka Vulnerable Group, Orumba South Local Government Area, Obinwanne Vulnerable Group Urum, Awka North Council Area, as well as Chukwuemeka Vulnerable Group Nawgu, Dunukofia Local Government Area.


Onneh Amaka Vulnerable Group is to construct a Borehole which will cost, Five Million, Seventy Thousand and Five Hundred Naira, which the group will contribute Five Percent of the fund and the agency will contribute Ninety Five Percent. The group was given fifty percent trench of the money which amounts to Two Million, Four Hundred and Eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Eighty Seven Naira Fifty Kobo.


Obioma Vulnerable Group Urum is to construct and equip a skill acquisition centre that will gulp, Five Million, Four Hundred and Thirty Six Thousand, Four Hundred and Ninety Five Naira, which they will continue five percent as well and the agency ninety five percent and was issued a cheque of thirty percent of the amount as the first trench.


Chukwuemeka Vulnerable Group Nawgu is to construct a borehole that will cost Four Million, Forty Nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty Nine Naira, which they will contribute five percent as well and the agency issued a cheque that amounts to fifty percent of the money as the first trench.
Speaking at the various communities visited, Mr. Muojekwu who said that the vulnerable groups which consists of people with disabilities and the poorest of the poor are very dear to the agency, urged the benefiting groups to use the funds given to them for the purpose it was meant for, as government will decisively dealt with defaulters, commending Governor Willie Obiano for attracting the programme which has kicked off for the past ten years in Nigeria in the State.


The Chairman Board of Trustees of the Agency, who is the traditional ruler of Nteje, Igwe Roland Odegbo, represented by a member of the Board of Trustees, Prince Chris Azor charged all the Vulnerable Groups to utilized the fund given to them to justify the huge sacrifice the Anambra State Government and World bank have made on their behalf.


Thanking the Anambra State Government and World bank for their magnanimity, the traditional ruler of Nawgu, Igwe George Okaa-Onwuogu commended the Obiano administration for a job well done.


The Chairperson of Onneh Amaka Vulnerable Group Mrs. Angelina Anagor assured that they will judiciously utilized the fund given to them.
Signing of agreement between the Anambra State government and the groups and the presentation of cheques formed the climax of the exercise.
