The Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor
has promised stronger synergy with the Anambra State House of Assembly
Committee on Works for an improved road infrastructure in the State.
The Commissioner made the promise when members of the Committee paid a familiarization visit to the Ministry at his office in Awka.
Engineer Ifegiofor thanked the Committee members for coming and
assured them that the Ministry will make sure that every kobo spent by
the government is accounted for.
Commissioner Ifejiofor assured them that the government of Chief
Willie Obiano is fully committed to completing all the on-going road
projects in the State notwithstanding the paucity of funds.
On his part, the Chairman of the Committee, Bishop Timothy Ifedioranma
representing Njikoka One Constituency, commended the management and
staff of the Ministry for greatly improving the image of the Ministry.
He said the visit was purely for familiarization and that soon, a date
will be set aside for an oversight visit of project sites in the
State.
Bishop Ifedioranma used the opportunity to equally appeal to Ndi
Anambra to remain calm and patient, saying that construction of roads
is always in the lowest ebb during rainy seasons.
A member of the Committee, Mr Carter Umeh of Aguata One Constituency
said that the Committee is looking forward to a close working
relationship with the Ministry.
He commended Anambra Road Maintenance Agency for the initiative of
using interlocking for patching of failed portion of roads in the
state.
Another member of the Committee, Chief Douglas
Egbuna representing Onitsha North One Constituency pleaded with the
men of ARMA to step up their efforts by making sure that all portion
of bad roads in the state are covered in order to achieve the aim of
Governor Obiano’s policy of zero-porthole.
