Awka Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, AWKACCIMA has inaugurated its tenth President and executives to pilot the affairs of the chamber for two years.


Award of excellence was also presented to some individuals who excelled in their profession including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Chief Uche Nworah, who was honoured for his contributions to the development of the broadcast industry in the South East.


The event which took place in Awka during the Forty eighth Annual General Meeting of the Chamber drew both state and national officers of Chambers of Commerce from all parts of the country.
Correspondent Chibuzo Obidike who covered the event reports that the primary role of AWKACCIMA include promotion of business activities In Awka and Anambra state through its annual Made-In- Nigeria Trade Fair.


The inauguration and investiture of the new President, Pastor Steve Nduaguba, marks another milestone towards sustaining the giant strides of the chamber in making the state, one of the most business friendly in Nigeria.


The Anambra Sate Commissioner for Agriculture, Mechanization, Processing and Export, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba while speaking at the event, explained that the Awka Chamber of Commerce alongside other Chambers, are on the right track of promoting trade in Anambra state.


Mr. Onukwuba, who extolled the Association for recognizing notable individuals who have distinguished themselves in their areas of endeavors, urged the new President to be committed to achieving more for the chamber.


The Vice President, National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Mr. Humphrey Ngonadi while expressing delight with the giant strides recorded in the Chamber, urged the newly inaugurated executive to see their new post as sacrifice which requires dedication to serve and ability to harness individual capabilities of members of the Chamber.


In his valedictory speech, the outgoing President, Rotarian Felly-Zontal Akosa commended the democratic leadership of Governor Obiano in all sectors of the state economy, which he said, portrays him as most friendly Governor in the East of the Niger and appealed for operational vehicle for effective and efficient running of its trade fairs among others .


The new President, Pastor Nduaguba in his Inaugural address, commended the achievements of the outgoing President, and assured that he will anchor his leadership on the association’s main obligations of safeguarding business interests and sharing business experiences.


Responding on behalf of the awardees, Chief Nworah acknowledged that the association roles is one the four pillars of the Obiano administration and dedicated the award to the entire staff of ABS.


Chief Nworah noted that the feat achieved by the station was through the support of Governor Obiano and advised the new President to adopt modern ways of doing business using the internet.
