Ndi Anambra have been charged to use Saturday’s end-of-month environmental sanitation exercise to clean their surroundings, de-silt blocked drainages and gutters and also cut overgrown grasses around their homes, offices and places of business.

Anambra State Commissioner for Environment, Mr Obi Nwankwo made the charge in an interview with Anambra Broadcasting Service. He said that the ‘Dobe Anambra Ocha’ environmental campaign launched by the Ministry in July 2019 is here to stay and has helped in raising the consciousness of Ndi Anambra in keeping the environment clean.

“I’m happy that our people are aware of what is expected of them. We have observed across the 3 senatorial zones where our inspection teams have been active over the past weeks that compliance is improving. That’s what we love to see. We don’t like to use force or abatement notices which we are already giving to sanitation defaulters to make them to keep their environment clean”.

Continuing, Mr Nwankwo thanked His Excellency, Governor Willie Obiano for spearheading the ‘Dobe Anambra Ocha’ campaign and supporting the ministry with the resources they require to make Anambra the cleanest state in the country. He said that the ministry has already mobilised trucks to cart away the rubbish that will be generated from the exercise while also warning that Sanitation inspectors will be deployed across the state to sanction defaulters
