The Women International Shipping and Trading Agency (WISTA), has handed over a speed boat to Omambala na Ezu Women Fishers Association.
The National President of WISTA, Mrs. Mary Hannah, during the occasion of the hand over, at Aguleri, Anambra East Local Government Area, said enormous job opportunities exist in the maritime industry.
Mrs. Hannah said that Anambra State has remained a reference point in efficient service delivery nationwide, noting that they brought the speed boat to help the women expand their businesses.
She urged the women to encourage their daughters to access the huge job opportunities in the maritime sector.
The wife of the Anambra state governor, Dr Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, represented by the Managing Director, Transport Company of Anambra State, Dr. Ify Mmadukasi, thanked the Association for their humanitarian services.
Dr Mrs. Obiano noted that the activities of the association conformed with what she was doing with her non-governmental organization, Caring Family Enhancement Initiative, CAFÉ.
Earlier, the promoter of WISTA in Anambra State, Chief Mrs. Edith Mike- Ejezie who is a legal practitioner told the ABS that she attracted the intervention of WISTA to enable the Women Fishers Association to grow and assured that she will continue to help Omambala na Ezu women within her capacity.
The traditional ruler of Aguleri, Igwe Dr. Mike Idigo represented by the Chairman, Aguleri Cabinet Council, Chief Dom Ndive, the President General, Aguleri Community Assembly, Chief Hypo Onwuegbuka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health, Honourable Kate Edozieh and the President, Omambala na Ezu Women Fishers Association, Mrs.
Nkemdilim Udenze were among the dignitaries that graced the occasion.
