The people of Ezinator Community in Awka South Local Government Area
have staged a peaceful protest against the incessant postponement of
their Town Union’s election.


The protesters came to the Government House Awka carrying placards
with various inscriptions such as “Governor Willie Obiano still remains
the best,” “Stop postponing our election”, “Ezinator is a peaceful
community”,  among others.


While Speaking during the protest, the leader of the group, Chief Williams
Onu, accused the traditional ruler and the immediate past President
General of the town, of trying to impose   a President-General
who is not a popular choice of the community on them.


Chief Onu who is also a member of Igwe’s cabinet, appealed to Governor
Obiano to come to their aid for peace to rein.


Addressing the protesters , the Special Adviser to the Governor on Town Union and Chieftaincy Matters, Mrs Vera Queen Okonkwo, described Governor Willie Obiano as a peace loving personality promising that the government will look into the agitation of the people of Ezinator and resolve the issue amicably.


The Special Adviser  enjoined  the people to continue to be law abiding.
