The Anambra State Executive of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, led by its President, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, has inaugurated the Nnewi South Local Government Area chapter of the organization with a call for a collaboration towards the realization of the collective goal of the race.


The event which took place at Nnewi South council headquarters Ukpor attracted members of the organization from across the State.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo is an apex pan Igbo organization whose major objective is to champion the course of the Igbo race and promote its culture and tradition.


The Chairman of the Nnewi South Local Government Area Chapter of the organization, Dr. Chudi Okechukwu and members of his executive were elected in 2017 without formal inauguration.


In his inaugural speech, the State President of the organization, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene harped on the need for Ndi Igbo to be more united in order to surmount the numerous challenges facing them in the country.


Chief Okeke-Ogene commended Governor Willie Obiano for supporting the organization and for the unrelenting efforts of his administration in transforming Anambra State.


In a remark, the National Patron of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing, Chief Emeka Mkpaalu appreciated the State leadership of the organization for carrying members along and promised to always support the organization.


The group had earlier paid a Courtesy call on Traditional Rulers in Nnewi South at their office at the Nnewi South Headquarters, Ukpor where the Chairman Traditional Rulers Council Nnewi South Local Government Area, Igwe Francis Umennajiego commended them for their various efforts in championing the course of the Igbo race, and asked them to device means of educating the people on how best to handle the challenges facing them.
