Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging the Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment to sensitize Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to deploy part of their investment to Anambra State.


The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored by the member representing Njikoka Constituency Two, Dr. Pete Ibida and others during yesterdays plenary in Awka.


While throwing more light on the motion, Dr. Ibida explained that big investors in California, New York, Dubai, Abuja, Lagos, Porthacourt among others are citizens of Anambra State.


He stressed the need for Information Ministry to do aggressive sensitization on the need for Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to deploy part of their investment to Anambra State, leveraging on the enabling environment created by the State government.


This he noted will take many youths off the streets and boost socio -economic development of the State.
On his part, the member representing Awka North Constituency, Chief John Nwokoye wondered why citizens of the state will be busy developing other countries, even when they made their wealth in Anambra State and urged them to extend their wealth home as the State is safe for investment.
In their contributions, the member representing Orumba South Constituency, Mr Emma Nwafor, his Ogbaru One counterpart, Mr Noble Igwe, the member for Anambra East Constituency, Chief Obinna Emeneka among others also lent their voices to the motion.


Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor also urged big investors of Anambra extraction in the diaspora to key into the think home philosophy of Governor Willie Obiano to make Anambra State the biggest economy in Nigeria.
