Anambra State Vigilante Supervisory Committee says it will take necessary steps to implement the recent landmark decisions of the Southeast Governors Forum to contain herdsmen menace in the region.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Committee and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Vigilante Matters, Chief Ikechukwu Aduba, the Anambra Vigilante Group said serious efforts will be made to restrain foot movement of cattle and herdsmen from State to State and community to community.

Chief Aduba, who is also a member of the five man joint security committee set up by the Southeast Governors Forum in its last meeting at Enugu, affirmed that efforts will equally be made by the Anambra State Vigilante Supervisory Committee to establish forest guards to monitor activities in forests and bushes in Anambra State.

He further said that henceforth gun and cutlass wielding herdsmen will be apprehended and dispossessed of such deadly weapons, and called on the citizenry to always provide vital information to statutory security agencies in order to sustain the enviable security architecture in Anambra, which is widely adjudged as the safest State in Nigeria.

While assuring the citizenry of crime free Ember months, especially during the forthcoming yuletide, Chief Aduba, who is a retired Commissioner of police, commended the Southeast Governors for their concerted efforts at promoting peace and harmony in the region.
