Over seventy thousand people have enrolled in Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, ASHIA.
Governor Willie Obiano who stated this at the Government House, Awka, while recieving the Medical Team from the Department of State Services, appealed for more enrolment.
The team is in the State for a weeklong Summit. The team who are in the State for their Health Week was led by the Director, Medical Services of DSS, Dr Ann Okorafor.
The team will round off it’s summit on Friday at Ogbunike targeted at intervention in mental health challenges, among other health issues.
Receiving the team, Governor Obiano enumerated the mission, vision statement as well as State government’s intervention in the Health Sector including Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, upgrading of medical facilities and medical schools’ accreditation, among others.
Governor Obiano noted that what DSS is embarking in Ogbunike, is grassroot-oriented as it will go a long way to improve the health needs of ndi Anambra and asked them to adopt a hospital in the State where they can receive medical attention.
Leader of the team, Dr Ann Okafor expressed happiness that the State Government graciously accepted to partner with them and disclosed that during their intervention in Kano State , up to one thousand cases of eye catteract were attended to , expressing optimism that many people in the state will key in, as it will aid productivity.
Dr Okorafor further commended the Governor for all the good works he is doing.
Earlier, the Director of State Security Services, Mr Isaku Yusuf said that the event is an annual event.
