The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State Mr. Andrew Kumapayi has described Road Safety as everybody’s business.


Speaking in an interview with the ABS in his office in Awka, Mr. Kumapayi disclosed that the essence of setting up the agency on eighteenth July 1988 is to reduce road crashes in the country and charged the Motoring Public to join hands with the Federal Road Safety Corps in achieving the set goals.


He advised Drivers to always plan their journey by ensuring that their Driver’s License is up to date to avoid embarrassment on the highway.
The Sector Commander of the Corps who charged Drivers to ensure that they drive safely this Ember Months and beyond, maintained that Mobile Courts will be on to try those that Drive against the traffic rules.


Mr. Kumapayi announced that the Ember Months Campaign of the Federal Road Safety Corps commenced on second of this month to end on eighteenth December this year with the theme “Road safety is a state of mind, Road traffic crash is absent of mind, stay alert, stay alive”.


He disclosed that as part of strategies to ensure accident free Yuletide, Officers and Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps will be visiting motor parks, schools, Churches, Mosque and communities to sensitize the public on the need to obey traffic rules and regulations.


Mr. Kumapayi who used the opportunity to warn Motorists against over speeding, overloading and dangerous overtaking, advised them to always consider other road Users.


He commended the Anambra State Government for its support to the agency and called for its sustenance.
