The Commissioner for Economic Planning, Budget and Development Partners, Mr. Mark Okoye says the present administration is committed to maintaining accountability and transparency in all sectors of the state economy.


Mr. Okoye stated this at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat Awka during the flag off of the 2020 budget bilateral discussion.


The Commissioner Mr. Okoye said that in line with the physical sustainability plan signed by all the states of the federation, Anambra state is geared towards preparing and presenting it to the State House of Assembly.


He maintained that the discussion was to ensure that government makes a comprehensive document that will capture the critical areas of development of the state which be ready by November this year.


The Commissioner maintained that no state in the federation has invited civil organizations and other groups during her budget preparation except Anambra because Governor Obiano is running open government and carries his subjects along.


The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Comrade Leo Imoka in his remarks said that they need to be abreast with international best practice to avoid budget deficit and look at the presentations of the Ministries Department and Agencies, MDA’s to know if it aligned with the blue print of the present administration.


In his speech, the Acting Director Planning Department of the Ministry, Mr. Arthur Iweanya said that the discussion is a welcome development as it is one of the mandate of the Ministry in ensuring things are done accurately.


For a member of the Civil Rights Concern, Mr. Okey Onyeka, the process will help to move forward a proposal that will be of high quality and align with the government plans.


The bilateral discussion attracted people from the Civil Society, Civic rights, Student Union, ASATU groups, Ministries, the Clergy among others.
