The Anambra State Government in collaboration with Consolidated Alliance has commenced Project Smart Jobs, an empowerment and employment training for youths on entrepreneurial E-commerce for job opportunities.


The Commissioner for Indigenous Art Works, Diaspora Affairs, Culture, and Tourism, Mrs. Sally Mbanefo disclosed this while interacting with Journalists at the just concluded Staff Retreat of the Ministry at Amawbia.


The project is in line with State Government’s drive to empower youths in the State with jobs in the digital space and leverage on technology to create jobs for themselves and provide the needed manpower planning for the business or companies operating in the State and beyond.


According to Mrs. Mbanefo, the ongoing training of youths centered on ways of assisting tourists and visitors, make hotel and flight bookings, pick Airport Taxi, shuttle and access interstate buses for a period of six months with minimum profit of over three hundred thousand naira a month.


She noted that the intervention is engendered by the resolve of Governor Willie Obiano in getting youths off the streets, urging them to visit the Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy to be enrolled into the scheme.


Speaking in an interview, a major partner in the project, Mr. Chidi Kanu said that the project is geared towards availing them the opportunities to take advantages of digital space in order to be self reliant as they will be trained on both direct and indirect jobs in the hospitality, travel and tourism value chain.
