The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke will lead top government officials including the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Honourable C Don Adinuba, to the 2019 Ihiala New Yam Festival.
This year’s festival, which will be the first to be celebrated by Igwe Sir Thomas Obidiegwu, the traditional ruler of the community, is inviting all sons, daughters, friends, well wishers and lovers of Ihiala and Igbo culture to attend.
A statement signed by the President General, Ihiala Progress Union, Chief Okey Chukwu, said the event will hold on Saturday, fourteenth September, 2019 at St. Martin’s Playfield, Odoata, Along Onitsha/Owerri Expressway.
The release quoted Chief Chukwu as saying that the ceremony will commence with an interdenominational church service at the same venue by ten in the morning.
