Culture, they say is a people’s way of life. Thia is perhaps the reason why the Students’ Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka and Spine Communications Limited decided to celebrate culture by hosting the maiden ‘Oji Ofor Festival’ of the University.

The celebration was aimed at bringing the University Community together to stimulate and drive local economic growth while promoting cultural values.

The Festival which took place at the University’s Library in the Campus was tailored in the Igbo cultural ideal while providing micro and small businesses opportunities to showcase their products and services to potential customers in one location.

Welcoming their guests and partners, the SUG president of the Institution, Comrade Joseph Okafor revealed that the Students’ Union Government of the school through the partnership, seeks to bring to her members, a first of its kind experience that will educate, support, encourage and reward students who are deeply rooted in the knowledge of their culture and tradition.

Speaking to Journalists, shortly after the event, the founder Spine Communications Limited, Dr. Emeka Okeke said that the Ojiofor Festival availed the university community a platform to celebrate one another while being encouraged to be the primary brand ambassadors of the University as it strives to achieve the Vision 200 of the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Charles Esimone which is to have the school among the World’s top 200 universities.

Lovers of culture and tradition graced the occasion, including the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ABS, Chief Uche Nworah, Director of UNIZIK Confuscious Institute, Professor Yu Zhargbao, the Public Relations Officer of the University, Dr. Emma Ojukwu, among others.

They applauded the initiative, noting that it will help to constantly promote the culture of the people and project individual talents in indigenous artworks.

In a remark, a facilitator of the festival, Engineer Emeka Okoye explained that Spine Communications Limited is a brand development and management company, whose interest is to deliver the value proposition of partner brands, directly to the right customers through maximum publicity and to boost sales, thus their reason for the collaboration.

As expected in a core Igbo cultural event, the Oji-Ofor festival featured students cultural displays, conferment of titles, masquerading, wrestling contest, native food, fashion exhibition, among others.

It was also a bazzar of sorts to students as many won different gifts from their brand partners including fans, generator set, refrigerator, air conditioners, plasma TV, electric kettle, irons, chargers and power banks, among others through a raffle draw.
