Member representing Njikoka 2 in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr. Pete Ibida this evening (Wednesday, 18th September, 2019) hosted members of the visiting Belgium medical mission at his Nimo home in Njikoka local government area. The team have spent the last 2 weeks on medical mission at Enugwu- Ukwu general hospital, Anambra State.

He thanked the team for their selfless service to Ndi Anambra and wished them a safe journey back.

Rt. Honourable Uche Okafor, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly who was special guest said the state government appreciated their services and prayed that the team will collaborate with local medical personnel to help improve their skills and competence.

Hon. Timothy Ifedioranma, member representing Njikoka constituency 1 in the state assembly thanked the team on behalf of his constituency which had played host to the team throughout their stay.

Chief Uche Nworah, MD/CEO of Anambra Broadcasting Service, and representative of Igwe Sir Ralph Obumnaeme Ekpeh, the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu at the dinner event expressed his happiness on behalf of Igwe Ekpeh and said that Enugwu-Ukwu community and other surrounding communities that benefitted from the mission will always cherish the love the team showed their people and looked forward to their return visit.

Dr. Vincent Okpala, Anambra State Commissioner for Health thanked the team on behalf of Governor Willie Obiano and said the state will still partner the team during future medical missions to the state.

The leader of the Belgium medical mission, Dr Paul Van Acker said that the team had over a thousand consultations and performed over 100 surgeries during their 2 weeks stay in the state. He thanked the state government, Enugwu-Ukwu community and Igbo community in Gent, Belgium for the logistics, security and other support. He promised that the team will be back in 2020.

Facilitators of the Belgium medical mission to Anambra state, Owen Emeh, President General, Igbo Union Belgium, Ifeanyi Jekwu and Paschal Onya, members of Igbo Union Belgium said they were motivated by their love for their state and people, and the need to give back to the society. They encouraged Ndi Anambra in the diaspora to always think more of what they can do to improve the well being of people back home.
