Governor Obiano led administration has continued to receive
commendation from groups and individuals across the country for good
governance.
This was witnessed when the Association of Professional Women
Engineers of Nigeria, Anambra state chapter paid a courtesy visit to
the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Nkem Okeke in his office at the
Government House, Awka.
Correspondent, Emmanuel Okonkwo was there and reports that the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria is a
fraction of the Nigeria Association of Engineers.
Welcoming the team, Dr. Okeke restated commitment of the present
government to collaborating with individuals and groups who mean well
for the state.
Deputy Governor Okeke who acknowledged that some female are scared
away from engineering courses because of the demands
of the profession, commended the group for winning young girls into
the profession which he said contributes immensely to the development
of the society.
Speaking earlier, the Chairperson of the Association, Engineer Oluchi
Okoli expressed delight with the people oriented style of leadership
of the present administration.
Engineer Okoli maintained that the group’s primary responsibility is
to motivate young girls into the engineering profession, which they do
through provision of scholarship opportunities for girls from primary
to tertiary institution , organizing of seminars, equipping of schools
laboratories, among others, and called for government’s support to the
association to enable them achieve more for the people.
