Anambra state government has demolished a security house blocking drainage channel at Abubo village, Nnewichi, Nnewi.

Officials of the state Physical Planning Board, led by its Acting General Manager, Mr. Nwabufo Anene visited the site where it was discovered that the developer erected an illegal structure that blocked the drainage and thereby endangering the lives of residents as the flood is already wrecking havoc in the area.

It was also gathered that the developer had defied the call by the board to stop further development, pending when the issues raised are resolved.
Mr. Anene, who stressed that the board had been mandated to ensure controlled development across the State, warned developers against being stubborn but ensure strict compliance.

While emphasizing that the developer tampered with the drainage, Mr.
Anene announced that the Board will introduce more drainage system to ensure proper evacuation of flood water.

The Secretary, Abubo village, Nnewichi, Nnewi, Mr. Okwudili Onyesoh said that the community had severally approached the developer to stop further development as the road has been badly damaged.

While commending the State government for its prompt intervention, he added that they have issued entreaties to the developer, who remained adamant and defiant.

The board thereafter successfully channeled the flood appropriately to ensure the safety of the people living in the area.
