The British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, has adjudged the Anambra Broadcasting Service the best radio station in the country in terms of rapid and quality attention to issues and situations.


The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C Don Adinuba, announced this in his office at the Jerome Udorji state secretariat Awka, while addressing editors and reporters of the News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS.

Commissioner Adinuba said being proactive was the main reason why the BBC pronounced the ABS the best broadcast station in Nigeria.


He applauded the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Chief Uche Nworah, for initiating numerous far reaching programmes and for being on his toes all round the clock.


The Commissioner announced that members of staff of the establishment will be sent to Lagos in batches for training by the BBC free of cost in preparation for the twenty-four hours DSTV broadcast that will commence soon.


He used the occasion to applaud the ABS for organizing a successful and well attended 2019 new yam festival promising that next year’s edition will be grander.


In his speech, Chief Nworah, thanked the Commissioner for his support and fatherly advice, assuring that the staff will continue to do better in projecting the state to the world.,


He advised members of staff of the News Department to put in more efforts in their job to continue to be on top.


The Director, News and Current Affairs Department of the ABS, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, who appreciated the Commissioner for the monthly tutorials, said for the first time, ABS is receiving positive attention from the government and pledged that Ndi ABS will forever remain grateful to the present administration.
