Anambra state government has commenced resurfacing of the Dr Alex
Ekwueme square road from the Aroma axis of the Enugu-Onitsha express
road.

The Commissioner for Works Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor who spoke to
Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri said the move was aimed at giving a
face lift to the road.

When ABS arrived the site, men of an indigenous construction firm
handling the project, Pachucks Nigeria limited, were seen asphalting
one lane of one part of the dual carriage way.

Heavy duty vehicles were also seen loaded with asphalt and coal tar.

Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Works Engineer
Ifejiofor said, the resurfacing will terminate at the Goddy Ibekwe
junction axis of the INEC headquarters road.

This he said was to give the area a face lift especially as it
connects many routes.

The Commissioner noted that this is just a tip of the ice berg as
regards reconstruction and construction of roads across the state,
which will take effect as soon as the rains stop.

Meanwhile, men of the Anambra Road Maintenance agency have commenced
filling of potholes on roads in Awka and environs.

A visit to Obi Okoli by UNIZIK temporary site was met with massive
exercise by men of ARMA who worked day and night to ensure that
potholes on the road become a thing of the past.
