The Anambra State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Nnamdi Onukwuba, has visited Coscharis Rice Mill at Igbariam, Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, ahead of its commissioning by Governor Willie Obiano.
The visit was to ascertain the level of preparedness of the company in meeting the demands of Ndi Anambra as regards to quality rice production and distribution across the state.
Expressing his satisfaction shortly after the visit, Mr. Onukwuba noted that rice production across Anambra State is expected to hit four hundred thousand metric tonns within the next one year going by the recent improvement in that area.
He commended the Chief Executive Officer of Coscharis Farms Limited for responding to the think home initiative of Governor Willie Obiano, calling on more investors to take the advantage of the Anambra State business friendly environment.
Responding the Managing Director, Coscharis Farms, Mr. Godwin Umeaka noted that Coscharis Rice Mill is currently producing forty thousand metric tonns per annum, but will expand to one hundred and twenty thousand metric tons per annum, by next year.
He assured that the demands of Ndi Anambra and beyond will be met in production and distribution of quality rice at affordable cost.
The Commissioner inspected the mill technology, at the farm as well as processes required to have a quality finished goods, ranging from pre-cleaning, per-boiling, drying, dehusking, whitening, de-colouring, to packaging.
The Governor will officially commission the mill on Wednesday, 2nd October, 2019.
