The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala, says the State government will always partner with individuals, groups and organizations, to raise the tempo of good governance in the State.
Dr. Okpala disclosed this when a team of Medical Professionals, from the United States of America who arrived the State for a two day Free Medical Mission, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Awka.
Health Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that while welcoming the medical team who operate under the aegis of (Resurrection House For All Nations), Dr. Okpala thanked them for the visit and praised the team for sacrificing their resources, energy and time for the good and wellbeing of humanity.
The Anambra State Health Commissioner maintained that provision of adequate health care system in the state, is one of the top priorities of the current administration, hence the various innovative interventions the state government has done in the sector under the Obiano administration, including the establishment of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency, which he said, has captured over seventy thousand people already.
Dr. Okpala promised that the state government will always partner with individuals, groups and organizations to uplift its Health sector.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Dr. Onwurah- Michael Obiekwe, who said that they have been going on missions for the past fifteen years, noted that the team have been to the Philippines, Panama, Zimbabwe, Burundi among other countries, and explained that their first mission in any place they visit, is to share the love of Jesus Christ to the rural dwellers, as well as help people who do not have access to health care services.
He further pointed out that they came with medical doctors, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and nurses to the state.
Dr Obiekwe noted that they equally assist in reactivating hospitals, train manpower, and that plans are on, to establish telemedicine and school of biomedical engineering in Anambra State.
The team had already commenced operation in Nibo Primary Health Care Centre, Awka South Council Area, and will remain in the health centre till tomorrow.
