The Metropolitan Archbishop Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, Most Reverend Valerian Okeke says five scholarships have been attracted from Hungary for best students of College of Nursing, Saint Charles Borromew Specialist Hospital to enhance their performance and motivate the students to compete favourably with their counterpart globally.

Most Rev. Okeke stated this during a pontifical mass that ushered in the matriculation and Capping ceremony of set 2018 student nurses of College of Nursing, St Charles Borromew Specialist Hospital Onitsha, at the College matriculation ground.  Correspondent, Oggorchukwu Oranu reports that the Archbishop who recounted the history of the school said that the aim of building the college is to have a school of Nursing with international standard where students gain admission on merit with equal access for both the rich and poor hence his insistence that the school fees will be lower than what is paid by  other Schools of Nursing around . 

Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ogochukwu  Ndibe restated state government continuous support to the institution for quality healthcare delivery in the state  and enjoined the state citizenry to enroll in Anambra state Health Insuraninsurancece Agency, ASHIA to access health care at an affordable rate.   

  The Acting Director of Nursing Services, Anambra state, Sir Anselm Ekwealor in a speech, charged the students to embrace all the clinical experiences they will be exposed to in other to stand out among others.                               

The Manager, of the College Reverend Father Fidelis Nwanze said the college witnessed  increase  in number of both students and staff adding that solar energy was installed in the college to ensure twenty four hours power supply as seen in developed countries.     

   Earlier in a welcome address, the Head of the College, Sir Sylvester Ogoegbulem noted that Roman Catholic Church is the largest nongovernmental organization provider of health care services in the world and thanked the Archbishop for adding value to life by instituting the college.               He said that the college has established links with primary health Department in some local government areas for the students residential community nursing practice and pleaded with the state government to assist the school with utility vehicle.     

      In a speech, the class Representative of 2018 Set, Mr. Chukwuemeka Igbokwe said out of eighty- two students who were admitted on October 2018, forty-seven emerged successfully after six months of their preliminary training session and solicited for the construction of male hostel to enhance admission of male student nurses.               

      Some student nurses including  Anita Ezeuka, Chukwudi Enemchukwu and Chidera Anikebe expressed gratitude to God for making it to the next round.Capping of the student nurses, nurses pledge and anthem were the climax of the event.
