The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra state Council has commended
Anambra state government for the on-going massive palliative work on roads across the state and urged the state Road Maintenance Agency to ensure that the materials being used are of high quality to guarantee durability of the exercise.
In a communiqué issued at the end of October congress of the council
at the NUJ Press Centre, Awka, signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Union, Comrades Emmanuel Ifesinachi and Emma Udeagha respectively, the Congress regretted the  gridlock caused by continued closure to traffic of the high way in front of the state Police
Command Headquarters, Amawbia and urged the state government to direct
immediate opening of the road in view of the fact that the security threat that led to the closure no longer existed.


The communiqué lauded the state government for its efforts to guarantee security of lives and property of the citizenry, including provision of security equipment to the police and other relevant security agencies but urged the government to intensify action in that
regard to checkmate activities of undesirable elements especially
during these ember months.


The congress while thanking the state government, members of the Union
and the public for the success of the 2019 media summit held recently by the Union, called for similar support towards the forth coming NUJ 2019 press week and media games.
