The Anambra state government has embarked on the total rehabilitation of failed sections of Amawbia-Nise-Agulu Federal road.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor revealed this when he inspected the progress of work on the road.
Engineer Ifejiofor said that the section was badly damaged because of the heavy collection of water flowing from Amawbia to the top of the road, thereby causing the failure of that particular road.
The Works Commissioner assured that the quality of work being done by the contractor will solve the problem once and for all, noting that there is no more water on the road because the water is discharging directly into a culvert crossing the road, since they have created three culverts to take water into the natural discharge channel recently cleared by the government at Nise through back of the Governor’s lodge
The Project Manager of the construction firm Engineer Jacob Enaine promised that the company will complete the project as scheduled.
He said they are working day and night to ensure that the road is delivered in few days time because of the daily heavy traffic on the road.
A commercial bus driver Mr. Joseph Okoye commended the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in stabilizing the road.
He said that the intervention was a huge relief to them as the long queue that they always witness on that particular section has disappeared.
