The Ekwulobia General Hospital is to be upgraded to a Multi Specialty Hospital.
The Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Vincent Okpala made this known, when he led top government officials of the Ministry to on-the- spot check of the hospital.


Health Correspondent Chibuzor Okoye reports that according to Dr. Okpala, the on the spot check is a strategic measure designed by the Ministry, to evaluate the functionalities of the state owned hospitals, interact with the staff as well as to ascertain if there are needs to be addressed, in order to commence immediate interventions.


The Commissioner noted that the present administration is desirous of making the state, a medical tourist haven, adding that he is satisfied with what is on ground, but maintained that there is still rooms for improvement. 


Dr. Okpala further revealed that Anambra State government currently have an international project on infection control, and the ministry is training some medical personnel’s on the programme, even as he said that the state government will bring a computerized axial tomographic scan to the hospital.


The Head, Anambra State Hospital Administration, Dr. Richmund Achugbu, urged medical practitioners in the State to always be punctual & discharge their duties professionally and according to the ethics of the profession, as serious majors are in place to checkmate ethical misconducts. 


The Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Arinze Ugochukwu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on General Hospital, Mrs. Nwamaka Arinze, her Medical Supply counterpart, Jennifer Onyedikachi were among the entourage that visited the hospital.
