The Member representing Anambra West Constituency in the Anambra State House of assembly Mr Patrick Obalum Udoba has urged the National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, to increase its relief materials to Anambra State to cushion the effect of flood that affected most of the riverine areas of the State especially Anambra West.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen in Awka, the Lawmaker maintained that the call has become necessary due to enormous damage caused by this year’s flood in the riverrine areas across the State.
According to the lawmaker, if NEMA increases the relief materials it will go a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of the people affected by the flood in those areas who he noted lost all their crops to the deluge that sub-merged the area early this year.
He equally appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Works to rehabilitate the Ngene-Okwo-Azu portion of the INEC Otuocha Umueze-Anam road which he said had become a night mare to Motorists.
The Lawmaker made it clear that the road is the only link between Anambra East and West hence the need for urgent intervention on it.
