The National drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) is strategizing on
measures to curb drug abuse in the society.

To this end, the Organization for illicit Drug Abuse Education in
collaboration with the agency have embarked on an interactive session
with youths of Aguleri community on the need for a drug free and
progressive society.

Addressing the youths , the Fegge Area commander of the NDLEA, Mrs.
Amaka Ekwealor, who exposed the  participants on the dangers and
consequences of drug abuse, said drug free society is key to
socio-economic and meaningful development.

Reminding the youths of the need to embrace opportunities for self
development, she re-echoed  the disadvantages of drug
substance experimentation noting that such hampers productivity.

In a lecture on consequences of drug abuse, another official of
agency, Mr. Solomon Odewale , said drug dependency and Inducement has
led to criminalities and other social  vices.

He said the state government is passionate in ensuring zero tolerance
and eradication of drug abuse in the state and challenged the youths
to cultivate attitudinal change on negative perception that has often
led to physical and psychological problems.

On his part, a member of the organization for illicit drug abuse
education, Mr. Anene Onyiliegbe, while cautioning against peer group
influence, stressed the need for the youths to champion positive interventions  as vanguard of the community.

He  commended the initiative of the convener, towards human capital
and man power development .

The forum offered a platform for the youths to interact on drug
related issues, as it affects the society.
