In the ever changing world, where wastes and pollution are becoming a major problem, the Faculty of Physical Sciences of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University is set to organize its second
International annual conference to brainstorm on the way forward in their field of study.
The Press briefing was held in Awka and while speaking at the Press Briefing, the Dean Faculty of Physical Sciences of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Professor Osita Chiaghanam, noted that the Faculty is a focal point for research, which aims at bridging the gap between the University and Industries, hence the reason why the conference is important.
Professor Chiaghanam thanked the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Greg Nwakoby for given the Faculty the opportunity for the conference.
Speaking on the theme of the conference “Repositioning the Narratives of Scientific Research for Sustainable Development”, the University Teacher maintained that research carried out in the institution is not domiciled within the faculty only but is put to work and utililized by many interest groups given the predominant issues of waste and pollution across the globe.
The Dean School of Post Graduate Studies of the University and Chairman Local Organizing Committee of the Conference, Professor Moses Chendo, pointed out that key speakers have been chosen for the conference, which includes Chief Sunday Okoye Managing Director of Orient Petroleum Resources and Mr Chichebe Akachukwu of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Laboratory at the National Space and Development Research Agency, Abuja among others.
In a remark, the Chairman, Media and Publicity of the Conference, and Head Department of Geology Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Dr Kingsley Nwozor, said the Faculty under the University has achieved a lot, including geological mapping of parts of Anambra and Kogi States, studying sand stone deposits in the Anambra basin, of which Nanka and Ajalli are most prominent and their benefits, noting that the conference will help the faculty to consolidate on remarkable achievements already recorded.
The Conference is billed for twentieth to twenty-third of this Month.
