Two States including Anambra are currently benefitting from the Health
care strengthening project being funded by the European Union and
implemented by the World Health Organization.
The project is for theprovision of facilities that will aid the Disease Surveillance andNotification Officers in the twenty-one local government areas.The facilities which include a laptop, were presented to the officers
at the Jerome Udorji State Secretariat Complex in Awka by the Anambra
State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Okpala noted that health management
information system is one of the key factors in providing quality
health care delivery.
He enjoined the officers to utilize the facilities in providing
quality services to Ndi Anambra.
Dr Okpala stressed that the initiative is in line with the objective
of the State government towards making Anambra free from both
communicable and non-communicable diseases.
On his part, the Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on
Health, Mr Okey Nwokike noted that the State is better positioned in
winning the war against diseases.
Some of the Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers including
Mrs Georgina Idah from Ayamelum local government area and her Idemili
North counterpart, Mrs Stella Akabuike, maintained that their job will
henceforth be easier and more result oriented.
