Anambra State Commissioner for Girl’s Brigade Nigeria, Mrs Caroline
Adi has advocated proper training of the girl child.
She made the call during an event to mark this year’s International
Day for the Girl Child at the Cathedral Church of Saint James the
Great Atani in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Mrs Adi stated that they decided to celebrate at Ogbaru to ensure
grassroot sensitization on the need to train the girl child and
frowned at the concept that girls are made for domestic work, saying
that training a girl child is training a nation.
She commended Governor Willie Obiano for being gender sensitive by
given appointment to females.
For the National Youth Leader, Girl’s Brigade Nigeria Miss Chioma
Ibemesi, the girl child needs to be encouraged, urging people to avoid
discrimination against the womenfolk, urging parents to show equal
love to their children irrespective of gender.
The immediate past commissioner of the organization, Mrs Amaka Uchegbu
thanked God for the opportunity given to women in Anambra and charged
the participants to be diligent, determined and hardworking to
maximize their potential.
A guest speaker at the event, Mrs Nwanneka Ezeokafor urged them to
emulate the biblical Ruth and imbibe the fear of God in whatever they
do, advising them to be mindful of their dressing code and mind the
kind of friend they keep.
Some of the participants including Onyinyechukwu from Nnewi and Uju Gift from
Oko said they benefited much from the program which they will put into
practice to become useful citizens.
The event drew participants from different communities across the State.
