Senior Secondary School three students in Anambra State have been advised to obtain the National Identity Number (NIN) which has been made a prerequisite for sitting for JAMB examination.


In a release from the Ministry of Basic Education, endorsed by the Commissioner, for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha, tasked Principals of schools in the state to ensure that all SS3 students get registered immediately, to obtain the National Identity Number.


The release, noted that the call for SS3 students to register was necessitated by the new requirement from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) that candidates sitting for JAMB examination must provide their National Identity Numbers.


In the release, Professor Omenugha disclosed that the National Identity Management Commission in Anambra State has offered to bring their services closer to the students for easy registration in some designated centres across the Anambra State.


According to the release, the  centres include, Aguata at Ezeemo filling station Umuchu, Orumba South at Zenith Bank Umunze, Ekwusigo Local Government Area  Secretariat Ozubulu, Ihiala at Micro Finance Bank Ihiala and Odumegwu Ojukwu University Uli, Nnewi North Local Government Area Secretariat Nnewi, Anambra East Local Government Area Secretariat Otuocha, Awka South at National Identity Management Headquarter Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area at First Bank Abagana or National Identity Management Headquarter Enugwu-Agidi.


Others are, Anaocha at UBA Bank Agulu, Idemili North Local Government Area Secretariat Ogidi, Oyi Local Government Area Secretariat Nteje, Onitsha North at Shoprite park road, GRA Onitsha, Onitsha South Local Government Area Secretariat Fegge and Ogbaru Local Government Area Secretariat Atani.


The release stated that, all SS3 students from sixteen years and above are expected to go to these centres and present their birth certificates while students below sixteen years should in addition present the national identity number of either the parent or guardian for registration.
