Pace of repair work on the MCC pedestrian bridge Onitsha which was recently damaged by a heavy truck has accelerated.
The Commissioner for Works Mr Marcel Ifejiofor inspected the pace of work on the bridge yesterday.
As part of the inspection team and reports that at the site, Men of the Julius Berger construction firm handling the project, were seen working assiduously to deliver on schedule.
It was also observed that traffic was controlled along the express road to allow effective execution of the job.
Speaking shortly after the inspection, Mr Ifejiofor expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done so far, saying that the work is at the completion stage and explained that the repair work will be completed by next week.
He appealed to road users to exercise patience with the traffic situation which he said will end in no distant time.
