The International Community is observing today as World Stroke Day.
In this special report, Blessing Ijedibia spoke with some experts on the risk factors associated with stroke.
The World Stroke Day was established in 2004 at World Stroke Congress in Canada.
It is aimed at raising public awareness on individual life style and risk of the ailment.
Available statistics show that stroke is the largest single cause of disability and the second largest cause of death globally.
Commenting on the ailment, a Medical practitioner, Dr Okechukwu Ugwu, described stroke as a medical condition that paralysis some vital areas of the body.
He listed the risk factors to include diabetes, high blood pressure among others.
Dr Ugwu called on care givers to always ensure proper ventilation for stroke patients.
The theme for this year’s celebration is. “Don’t be the one“.
