Anambra State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has held its 2019 Sectoral Workshop for Special Marshals as a way to assess their individual performances and chart a way forward in their service delivery.


The event which took place at Neni, in Anaocha Local Government Area drew participants from all parts of the State, including Governor Willie Obiano, Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi, National Co-ordinator Special Marshals, Dr. Sini Kwabe, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Zone Five of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Kehinde Adeleye and the Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps Mr. Andrew Kumapayi among other representatives from other neighbouring States.


The 2019 Sectoral Workshop seeks to review the implications and contributions of the Special Marshals to the vision and objectives and core values in the fulfillment of the mandate given to the Federal Road Safety Corps through its Act as amended.


Declaring the Workshop open, Governor Willie Obiano who was represented by the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Christian Madubuko expressed satisfaction with the workshop as the Ember months can be described as the peak of their work of service delivery due to the busy nature of the roads and assured that with the strong collaboration with all security agencies, the State will continuously record giant strides in all sectors.


The Governor reminded them of the them of demands of the Ember Months and charged them to work towards realizing the core mandate of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
The Corps Marshal and Chief Executive of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Dr. Oyeyemi who spoke through the Zonal Commanding Officer of Zone Five of the Corps, Mr. Adeleye applauded the theme of the workshop as it centred on their individual assessment as Special Marshals as well as improving on their short comings.


In a remark the National Co-ordinator of the Special Marshals, Dr.
Kwabe and the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr. Kumapayi while making emphasis on some of the crashes in the State said that 2019 has been a year of terrible experiences in the State with the Amawbia and Onitsha fuel tanker accidents which resulted in huge economic losses.


Earlier in his welcome address, the State Co-ordinator, who is also the Deputy Zonal Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Mr Ben Osaka commended the Federal Road Safety Corps and the State government for their continuous support, assuring of better working ethics.
