The Bishop Diocese of Niger West, Right Reverend Johnson Ekwe has charged Christians to make good use of their spiritual talents for the service of God and humanity.
Bishop Ekwe gave the charge while delivering a sermon during a special service to make his Episcopal visit to Ayhamelum Archdeaconry where over one hundred candidates received sacrament of confirmation, while twenty nine women were admitted into the women’s guild and mothers union respectively and seven girls admitted into the girl’s guide.
Churches and parishes in Ayamelum Archdeaconry gathered at Saint Simons Anglican church Omor to welcome the bishop and his wife Ngozika among other dignitaries.
Bishop Ekwe who spoke on “maximizing your talents and potentials”, related his message to a king who gave ten pounds to ten of his servants to trade and make profit, in Luke nineteen verses eleventwenty seven, noting that those who made profits were given more, urging people to make profits in God’s business of soul winning.
Bishop Ekwe charged the newly confirmed candidates and those admitted to make gains for God through living godly life and preaching the gospel, advising them to allow the Holy Spirit they received to direct their affairs as new creatures.
The Archdeacon Ayamelum Archdeaconry and vicar of the host church, Venerable Theophilus Edo and his wife Nkechi thanked the Bishop and his entourage for the visit which they described as a blessing to the entire area and urged the candidates to live a new life in Jesus Christ.
Praises, thanksgiving, presentation of certificates to the candidates and laying of hands by the bishop also featured at the service.
