In keeping with Anambra State’s vision and mission statements and the efforts to boost the economy of the state and guarantee a more sustainable future for Ndi Anambra, the third edition of Anambra Business and Investment roundtable has been held.


The event which is themed “Beyond Infrastructure: Rethinking the Future” was held at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.


Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that the third in a series of the roundtable drew technocrats from various fields of endeavor who will brainstorm to draw conclusions for a sustainable future for Anambra State.


The first edition of the roundtable which was initiated by the present administration through the Anambra Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA, was held in March 2018, while the second edition held in September 2019 in New York and Washington DC.


Governor Willie Obiano led others including members of the State executive council, House of Assembly members, among others, to the event.


Governor Obiano, who said that his administration is now focusing on quality human capital, described the event as strategic and part of effort to consolidate his administration’s achievements, saying that his administration’s vision and mission statements are ignition to his economic blueprint.


Governor Obiano who expressed satisfaction with the emergence of a micro economy in Anambra State, called on people in the diaspora, to bring home some of their investments, as Anambra is secure for investments.


While stressing that Anambra is at the forefront of tackling unemployment through exploring opportunities in technology, the Governor called on Anambra youths to rise up and begin to induce change and announced that his administration is in the process of building a film village, to bring Nollywood back to its original root.


In a Keynote Speech, the Founder and Chairman of Zinox Group, Dr Leo Stan Ekeh emphasized that Anambra has the capacity to alter the destiny and development of the Country, calling for creation of platforms to facilitate the achievement, adding that if the Government has created opportunities, they need to be upgraded in line with twenty-first century standards, canvassing for building people with skills who will reposition things.


Chairman of Anambra Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA, Mr Ike Chiobi said that there is a projected population of about ten million people by year 2070, going by the current growth rate, which is the reason for the roundtable to rethink and retool how things are done in all sectors of the State economy.


Speaking to the ABS, Senator Victor Umeh, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Ifeatu Obiokoye said APGA administration has remained at the fore front of meaningful development and a pace setter among comity of States in Nigeria, calling for increased support.
