The Anambra State House of Assembly has urged Governor Willie Obiano to direct the Commissioner for Works to get the contractor handling the construction of Ajalli-Akpu-Nawfija-Ogbunka road back to site to complete the project.
The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Orumba South Constituency, Chief Emma Nwafor, during plenary.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim was there and reports that while sponsoring the motion, Honourable Nwafor regretted that the absence of the construction firm on site had caused serious damage to the earthworks already done on the road as it has been washed away by rains.
He revealed that improper channeling of drains is causing serious erosion on the embankments at the inlet and discharge points of drain.
In his contribution, the member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr. Pete Ibida who noted that the deplorable condition of the road has made the area inaccessible, urged the Executive Arm of Government to do the needful.
The member representing Aguata One Constituency, Dr. Cater Umeh, also stressed the need for all construction firms handling road projects in the state to expedite action now that the rainy season is over.
Speaker of the House, Honourable Uche Okafor, read out the resolution while the lawmakers supported it through a voice vote
