A call has been made for Ndigbo to de-emphasize making Igbo Presidency a priority, but seek knowledge-driven, rationally restructured federal Nigeria where every component is treated equally and allowed sufficient space in the political governance architecture of the Country.

The call was made by a delegation of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT under the Chairmanship of Professor Ben Nwabueze, when they paid a courtesy call on Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that while speaking through Professor Ejike Chiweyite, Professor Nwabueze decried the situation where Ndigbo seem not to be accepted in national affairs , despite their sacrifices in nurturing the Nigerian State, and advocated a new paradigm that will allow developing new ideas and action plans on what should be done to advance the collective efforts of Ndigbo to transform the Igbo homeland.

While describing Anambra as the Flagship State in the South East region, Professor Nwabueze applauded Governor Obiano’s efforts in all sectors of the State economy.

He lauded the idea of constructing a cargo airport in Anambra, urging South East Governors to form a more united front to emancipate the region, especially tackling the infrastructural deficit in the region.

Professor Nwabueze made other recommendations to include devolution of power, a new people’s constitution and building deep water facilities in the region, among others, pledging the association’s continued support to the welfare of the region.

The group, thereafter, went into a closed door meeting with the Governor.
The objective of ILT is to actively contribute to the multi dimensional struggle to add greater value to the collective efforts of many Igbo groups to uplift the Igbo nation.
